Can someone please tell me why players can be given such great gifts from the sponsors of the Bowls they play in, but if their coach or an agent takes the kid out for Pizza they will be suspended for violating NCAA rules? ? Sounds a bit hypocritical to me.

the real difference is that each player recieves the same thing, so there is no favortism, and also, it is a reward for playing in the bowl game. When you bring an agent and gifts into the picture, that agent could sway a player to a different school, or to the pros. That agent is using the player for financial gain... and it can create an unfair advantage among schools bc they can pay for players more or less. Bowl gifts are just the reward for playing well all season.

Ok, lets take agents out of the picture here.
Lets just say that the Coach of a team decides he is going to give a gift to each of his players... same gift to all players. That would be a violation... see what i mean?
